Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced IDMS Database Administrator to join our team. This role is crucial for managing IDMS database operations and Central Version system operations. You will play a key role in mainframe COBOL modernization conversion projects, including problem determination and resolution based on IDMS DB/DC behaviors. This is a hybrid role, requiring the candidate to be located within the US and able to badge into an IBM office 2-3 days a week.
Key Responsibilities
- Consult with clients to discuss IDMS concepts and relate them to existing Db2/SQL solutions.
- Assist with problem determination in application modernization issues, both in converted application COBOL code and the internal COBOL framework emulating IDMS behaviors.
- Resolve issues and/or make recommendations for corrections needed.
- Document issues and resolutions as required.
- Make modifications to the internal COBOL framework, and existing processes and procedures as assigned.
- Manage IDMS database operations and IDMS Central Version system operations.
- Support mainframe COBOL modernization conversion projects.
Required Skills
- Minimum 15 years of experience with IDMS DBA work, with excellent understanding of IDMS application and Database usage including ADSO.
- Minimum 10 years of experience with COBOL, with excellent COBOL/CICS/SQL programming and debugging skills.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
Nice to Have Skills
- Db2/SQL application and performance tuning knowledge.
- Data Migration experience.
- Assembler/Macro language knowledge.
- IMS-DB/DC experience.
- VSAM experience.
Work Model & Location
- Hybrid work model.
- Must be located in the US and within easy travel distance of an IBM office (e.g., Atlanta, Baton Rouge).
- Ability to badge into an IBM office 2-3 days a week.
- May require occasional travel.
Additional Information
- Rate: $60-70 per hour.
- Candidates must have a minimum of 15 years of experience.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $135,200 – $156,000 per year (Estimated)
