Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer with strong expertise in Palo Alto firewalls and network infrastructure to join our team in Queens Village, NY. This is a contract role requiring local candidates or those nearby.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and upgrade clients’ security and networking devices.
- Provide end-to-end support for other engineers on Palo Alto equipment and software.
- Cross-train internal staff to share knowledge and workload.
- Manage and troubleshoot Global Protect VPN configurations.
- Perform vulnerability fixes and patching on network devices.
- Conduct live packet captures and provide detailed troubleshooting reports.
- Ensure network connectivity and security compliance.
Essential Skills and Competencies:
- Experience: 6-8+ years of relevant experience.
- Firewall Technologies: In-depth experience with Palo Alto firewalls, Panorama, and Global Protect VPN installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Network Switching: Strong understanding of L2/L3 routing and switching fundamentals (e.g., BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, VLANs, STP, VTP).
- Security: Expertise in firewalls, Virtual Private Network (VPN), NAT, High Availability (HA), App-ID, User-ID, URL, and Content filtering.
- Troubleshooting: Proficient in L2/L3 Palo Alto firewall SME support, end-to-end configurations, and troubleshooting.
Role Description Details:
- The role involves maintaining the security and networking devices of our clients, including necessary upgrades.
- Engineers will be responsible for providing comprehensive support for Palo Alto equipment and software to other team members.
- Knowledge sharing and workload distribution through cross-training will be a key aspect of the role.
- Specific focus on Global Protect VPN setup and resolution of associated issues.
- Addressing security vulnerabilities and applying patches to maintain system integrity.
- Utilizing packet capture tools for in-depth network analysis and problem-solving.
