Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Android Framework Engineer to design and develop core Android Framework components. This role is crucial for enhancing the performance, reliability, and security of an In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) platform. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, with potential for full-time conversion.
Role Details:
- Position: Android Framework Engineer
- Location: Candidates can be based in Palo Alto, California (Preferred) or Detroit, Michigan (Secondary Priority).
- Work Schedule: Onsite Monday-Thursday, Remote on Friday.
- Duration: Through 02/08/2027, with a strong possibility of extension and full-time conversion.
Interview Process:
- Initial Manager Interview (30 minutes).
- Two Technical Panel Interviews (45 minutes each).
- Deep technical evaluation.
Role Overview:
Design and develop core Android Framework components to enhance the performance, reliability, and security of an IVI (In-Vehicle Infotainment) platform. Requires strong expertise in Android architecture and system-level engineering.
Required Skills:
- Strong Android Framework / AOSP experience.
- Deep expertise in HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) and AIDL.
- Programming languages: Java and C++.
- Strong understanding of Android framework fundamentals (this is not a learning role).
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop Android system-level components and services.
- Build HAL layers, AIDL interfaces, and Android services.
- Collaborate effectively with hardware, UX, and product teams.
- Troubleshoot performance and system-level issues.
- Conduct code reviews and maintain high engineering standards.
- Create technical documentation and architecture artifacts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science or a related field.
- 8+ years of Android/AOSP development experience.
- Strong Java, Kotlin, and C/C++ expertise.
- Deep knowledge of Android OS internals and Binder IPC.
- Experience integrating Hardware Abstraction Layers (HAL).
- Exposure to Agile development methodologies and CI/CD practices.
- Proven experience in performance optimization.
Candidate Expectations:
- Must possess a strong hands-on engineering background.
- Ability to clearly explain individual technical contributions.
- Demonstrated experience in system optimization or scaling.
- Excellent technical communication skills.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $75 – $95 per hour (Estimated)
