Role Overview: Data Architect
We are seeking a highly experienced Data Architect for a critical 12-month contract engagement in New York City. This role requires a seasoned professional with over 15 years of experience in the IT industry, specifically focusing on enterprise-level data architecture, modeling, and performance engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing robust data solutions that support complex business requirements, ensuring data integrity, scalability, and high performance across the organization’s data ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain comprehensive data architectures that align with business goals and technical requirements.
- Develop and implement sophisticated data models (conceptual, logical, and physical) to support various business applications and analytics platforms.
- Lead data transformation initiatives, ensuring efficient data flow and integration across disparate systems using tools like Informatica and Talend.
- Oversee data storage and archival strategies to optimize performance and ensure compliance with data retention policies.
- Perform advanced performance engineering to identify and resolve bottlenecks in data processing and retrieval.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, business analysts, and stakeholders, to deliver high-quality data solutions.
- Utilize advanced SQL and Unix Shell Scripting to automate data processes and manage database environments.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of excellence in data management.
Technical Requirements
- Minimum of 10+ years of dedicated experience in enterprise data architecture and modeling.
- Expertise in data transformation and ETL processes using Informatica or Talend.
- Advanced knowledge of relational and cloud databases, including PostgreSQL, Oracle, and Snowflake.
- Proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools, specifically Power BI.
- Mastery of Advanced SQL and Unix Shell Scripting for complex data manipulation and system automation.
- Strong understanding of data archival techniques and performance tuning strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working within the Banking or Financial Services sector is highly desirable.
- Exposure to modern data engineering technologies such as Python, Databricks, and SPARK.
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale data projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Special Requirements
Local candidates ONLY; In-person interview required; 3 days a week onsite; Banking domain experience preferred.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $160,000 – $210,000 per year (Estimated)
