Position Overview
The OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) Engineer will be a key member of the infrastructure team, responsible for the architecture, engineering, and day-to-day operations of a robust Oracle Cloud environment. This hybrid role, based in Malvern, PA, requires a professional with at least 8 years of experience who can navigate the complexities of a financial services infrastructure. Unlike general DevOps roles, this position focuses specifically on the nuances of OCI, requiring deep technical expertise in its unique service offerings. You will be tasked with building and maintaining production-grade infrastructure that supports high availability and disaster recovery (DR) mandates. A significant part of your initial focus will be the re-architecture of the OCI environment, which includes building a secondary region from scratch to meet stringent security and compliance requirements. This project is vital for the company’s resilience strategy, ensuring that financial operations can continue uninterrupted in the event of a regional failure. You will work with a variety of OCI services, including IaaS and PaaS, to deploy multi-tier applications efficiently. Your role involves not just deployment but also the continuous optimization of application performance, security, and availability. You will be the subject matter expert for OCI within the organization, providing guidance on best practices and emerging cloud technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement OCI Network and Security architectures to support complex, high-availability environments.
- Manage and troubleshoot connectivity issues within the Oracle cloud and between OCI and external networks.
- Execute the deployment of multi-tier applications using OCI services such as IDCS/IAM, Databases, Compute, and Load Balancers.
- Implement and maintain cloud security controls, including tenancy isolation, encryption, and key management.
- Develop and support automated monitoring and alerting workflows to ensure operational excellence.
- Collaborate with security teams to implement custom guardrails and automated compliance frameworks.
- Provide least privileged access management for all OCI resources to maintain a secure environment.
- Optimize OCI resource utilization to balance performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Support CI/CD pipelines with GitHub integration to facilitate rapid and reliable software delivery.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution, ensuring all systems meet recovery time and point objectives.
Technical Requirements
Candidates must possess a deep understanding of OCI Fast Connect, Security Lists, IAM Policies, and IAM Domains. Proficiency in scripting languages, particularly Python, is essential for enhancing monitoring jobs and automating routine tasks. Experience in a financial services environment is highly preferred due to the specific security and regulatory requirements involved. The role requires a balance between production support and project-based work, demanding excellent time management and prioritization skills. You should be comfortable working in a hybrid model, collaborating with team members both in-person in Malvern and virtually. Strong communication skills are necessary to articulate technical concepts to various stakeholders and to document architectural designs and operational procedures effectively.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $155,000 – $200,000 per year (Estimated)
