Role Overview: Quality and Manufacturing Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Quality and Manufacturing Engineer specializing in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) for a long-term project based in Lafayette, Indiana. This onsite role is critical for maintaining the highest standards of production and process efficiency within a high-volume assembly environment. The successful candidate will bridge the gap between design and production, ensuring that all manufacturing processes are robust, repeatable, and compliant with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities and Technical Scope

  • Lead and manage the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process for new and existing product lines.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to identify and mitigate potential risks in the manufacturing cycle.
  • Create and implement detailed Control Plans and Process Flows to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Oversee the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages, ensuring all documentation meets client and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize factory floor layouts and assembly sequences.
  • Utilize Microsoft 365 tools, specifically advanced Excel and SharePoint, for data management and project tracking.
  • Leverage Power BI to create data visualizations and reports that drive informed decision-making for the engineering team.
  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings to ensure manufacturing alignment with design specifications.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position offers a balanced work structure with approximately 70% of the time spent in a professional office setting and 30% active engagement on the factory floor. Candidates must be comfortable working in an industrial environment and are required to wear standard Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and earplugs. The schedule is a stable Monday through Friday shift from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, offering an excellent work-life balance with no required travel or rotating shifts. The ideal candidate is a self-starter capable of leading initiatives without direct supervision, ensuring that quality benchmarks are met autonomously.

Professional Qualifications

The role requires a minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in a combined Quality and Manufacturing engineering capacity. Experience within an assembly environment is highly preferred, as it provides the necessary context for the fast-paced production demands of this site. A Bachelor’s degree is mandatory for any candidate with fewer than 8 years of direct experience. We are looking for a professional who not only understands the technical aspects of engineering but also possesses the communication skills to lead teams through complex quality transitions.

Special Requirements

Onsite requirement; Fast-track hiring with only 1 interview; PPE required (safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, ear plugs).
