Role Overview: Cyber Architect
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cyber Architect to join our team in the Washington, DC area. This is a hybrid role requiring the candidate to be local to the DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia) region. As a Cyber Architect, you will be responsible for designing, building, and overseeing the implementation of complex security across our enterprise. You will work closely with engineering and architecture practices to ensure that our systems are resilient against evolving cyber threats. This position requires a deep understanding of both legacy infrastructure and modern cloud environments, specifically Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Key Responsibilities and Technical Leadership
- Design and implement comprehensive security architectures that align with business requirements and risk tolerance.
- Provide technical leadership in the application of Information Security Architecture within AWS cloud environments.
- Oversee the deployment and optimization of security monitoring tools, including IDS/IPS, Firewalls, and Network Access Control (NAC) systems.
- Utilize Splunk for advanced security analytics, log management, and incident response orchestration.
- Develop and maintain security policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure compliance with federal and industry regulations.
- Perform deep-dive security analysis to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies for complex business problems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and infrastructure provisioning.
- Manage and configure security solutions from vendors such as Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Cisco ISE, FireEye, and Gigamon.
- Ensure robust identity management and protocol security using NetFlow, Snort, and Bro.
- Maintain a strong understanding of network protocols and their security implications in a hybrid cloud environment.
Professional Requirements and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of eight to ten years of experience in information technology, with at least six years dedicated to architecture or engineering practices. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. Specifically, we require three years of direct experience as a Cybersecurity Solutions Architect. Technical proficiency in both Linux and Windows operating systems is essential. Candidates must demonstrate hands-on experience with Web Application Firewalls (WAF) and cloud access security brokers (CASB). Given the nature of our clients, the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance is a mandatory requirement for this position. We are looking for a professional who can quickly explore and understand complex security problems and translate them into actionable business solutions. Your expertise in AWS, Azure, and O365 will be critical as we continue to expand our cloud footprint. This 6-month contract offers a unique opportunity to influence the security posture of a major organization in the nation’s capital.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $165,000 – $215,000 per year (Estimated)
