Role Overview

ConvexTech Inc. is seeking a highly specialized Outage Management Engineer for a long-term remote contract opportunity. This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of power grid operations through the expert administration and optimization of Outage Management Systems (OMS). The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of the eTerra OMS platform, from daily maintenance and troubleshooting to the development of advanced processes that support critical business operations. As the energy sector evolves toward smarter grids, your expertise in AMI Filtering and GMS module integration will be essential in improving outage detection and response times for utility providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot the eTerra OMS platform to ensure 99.9% uptime and optimal system performance.
  • Develop and enhance OMS workflows and automated processes to streamline utility business operations and emergency response.
  • Manage technical touchpoints and data synchronization between OMS and other Grid Management System (GMS) modules.
  • Monitor and optimize the AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) Filtering Rules Engine to reduce false positives and improve outage accuracy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams, operations personnel, and external software vendors to resolve complex system bugs.
  • Implement system security patches and ensure compliance with industry-standard best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide high-level technical support and comprehensive training to internal dispatchers and engineering teams.
  • Analyze system logs and performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and propose infrastructure enhancements.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in OMS administration, specifically with GE eTerra (eOMS) or CGI OMS platforms.
  • Deep understanding of real-time power grid operations, including SCADA integration and distribution management.
  • Proven proficiency in AMI Filtering Rules Engine technologies and related troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Experience working with enterprise-level GMS modules and integrating third-party utility applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage high-pressure outage scenarios.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with both technical developers and non-technical operations staff.
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while maintaining high productivity and accountability.

Contract Details

This is a 1-year contract position with a high likelihood of extension for up to 3 years based on performance and project requirements. The interview process will be conducted entirely via video conferencing. Candidates must be prepared to support a US-based utility client during standard business hours.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $125,000 – $175,000 per year (Estimated)
