Role Overview
NextGen IT Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Senior Azure Cloud Network Specialist for a critical infrastructure role based in Libertyville, IL. This position requires a minimum of 12 years of professional experience in IT, with a deep specialization in Microsoft Azure cloud networking and engineering. As a senior member of the cloud infrastructure team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of cloud services, from initial design and architectural planning to implementation, optimization, and ongoing security enforcement.
Key Responsibilities
- Cloud Engineering & Design: Develop, design, and implement robust Azure Cloud Services including Azure Virtual Machines, App Services, AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service), Azure Functions, and comprehensive Storage solutions.
- Network Architecture: Architect and deploy complex network topologies involving VNETs, Subnets, Network Security Groups (NSGs), Azure Firewall, VPN Gateways, and ExpressRoute. You will also be tasked with implementing SDWAN and other advanced network solutions to ensure seamless connectivity.
- Automation & DevOps: Drive efficiency through automation by designing and implementing support for ARM Templates, Terraform, and PowerShell. You will integrate these into CI/CD pipelines to streamline infrastructure deployment.
- Performance Optimization: Manage cost and performance through the strategic use of Autoscaling, Load Balancing, and Reserved Instances. You will design for high scalability, reliability, and availability.
- Security & Compliance: Enforce strict security policies and best practices, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as ISO and NIST. You will lead the implementation of Zero Trust Architecture and manage Identity & Access Management (IAM) using Azure AD and RBAC.
- Collaboration & Innovation: Work closely with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot complex issues and optimize system resilience. You will also stay abreast of market trends and emerging technologies to keep the organization at the forefront of cloud innovation.
Technical Requirements
- 12+ years of overall IT experience with a focus on networking and cloud.
- Expert-level proficiency in Azure Cloud Services and Networking components.
- Strong background in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and ARM.
- Proven experience in implementing Zero Trust security models and RBAC.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills in a collaborative, high-stakes environment.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $165,000 – $215,000 per year (Estimated)
