Position Summary: Data Architect (Insurance Domain)
HMG America LLC is seeking a visionary Data Architect for a critical hybrid role based in either Madison, WI, or Chicago, IL. This position requires a deep understanding of enterprise data architecture and a proven track record in the Insurance domain. The successful candidate will lead the conceptualization and design of data products that align with Azure and Snowflake services, specifically focusing on core insurance areas such as Customer, Claims, and Policy. This is a 6-12 month contract opportunity with a high potential for extension, requiring a local presence for a 3-day hybrid schedule.
Core Responsibilities and Strategic Objectives
- Define and govern conceptual, logical, and physical data models tailored for the Insurance industry.
- Map complex data elements from insurance workflows and legacy applications to modern Operational Data Stores (ODS) and Data Warehouses.
- Architect data structures utilizing MS Fabric, Snowflake, and the Azure platform to support advanced analytics.
- Partner closely with business stakeholders, data engineering teams, and platform architects to deliver actionable insights.
- Optimize Azure-based data platforms for performance, cost-efficiency, and future scalability.
- Develop and maintain robust data pipelines using SQL and Python.
- Create comprehensive reports and dashboards that provide clear visibility into insurance metrics and KPIs.
- Ensure all data architecture initiatives comply with industry regulations and internal data governance standards.
Technical Requirements and Domain Expertise
- Extensive experience with Snowflake and Azure cloud data services.
- Proficiency in MS Fabric and modern Data Lake/Data Warehousing concepts.
- Strong hands-on skills in SQL and Python for data engineering and modeling.
- Mandatory domain experience in Insurance (Claims, Policy, Customer data).
- Proven ability to design and implement scalable data products in a complex enterprise environment.
- Experience in mapping data from diverse insurance workflows to centralized repositories.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions and influence decision-making.
Work Environment and Location Details
This role is offered as a hybrid position, requiring the candidate to be onsite 3 days a week in either Madison, Wisconsin, or Chicago, Illinois. We are strictly looking for local candidates who can commute to these locations. Both Madison and Chicago offer dynamic environments for IT professionals, with Madison being a major hub for insurance technology and Chicago serving as a global financial and business center. Compensation & Location
Salary: $160,000 – $210,000 per year (Estimated)
