Role Overview: Jira Service Management (JSM) Architect

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Jira Service Management (JSM) Architect to lead the design and implementation of enterprise-level ITSM solutions for our client in Houston, TX. This is a high-impact role requiring a blend of deep technical expertise in the Atlassian ecosystem and strong business acumen to align technical solutions with organizational goals. As an architect, you will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of JSM implementations, from initial requirement gathering to final deployment and user training.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Solution Architecture: Design and implement robust JSM solutions, including complex workflows, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), advanced automation rules, and service request configurations that strictly adhere to ITIL and ITSM best practices.
  • System Configuration: Manage and configure Jira Service Management (Cloud) environments. While the role focuses on JSM, you will ensure the platform is optimized for performance and scalability.
  • Customization & Optimization: Develop custom scripts using ScriptRunner or similar tools, create sophisticated automation rules, and leverage API integrations to extend the native functionality of the Atlassian suite.
  • Governance & Security: Establish and enforce governance policies regarding user roles, permissions, and global settings. Ensure data integrity and system security across all projects.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Lead requirement gathering sessions with business stakeholders to translate complex business needs into technical specifications.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Build advanced JQL queries and design comprehensive dashboards and reports to provide operational visibility and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Training & Documentation: Create detailed technical documentation and conduct training sessions for both system administrators and end-users to ensure high adoption rates.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 to 10 years of professional experience in Information Technology with a focus on Atlassian tools.
  • Proven track record of implementing JSM in at least two enterprise-level projects.
  • Solid technical background in cloud-based software architecture.
  • Experience with ServiceNow is a significant plus, particularly in migrating workflows from ServiceNow to JSM.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

Work Environment and Schedule

This position follows a hybrid work model. Candidates are required to be onsite at our Houston office (800 Capitol St) from Monday through Thursday, with the flexibility to work remotely on Fridays. This schedule fosters a collaborative team environment while providing a balanced work-life integration. The Houston office is located in a premier downtown facility, offering a modern workspace and excellent amenities.


Special Requirements

Hybrid schedule: Onsite Mon-Thurs, Remote Friday. Experience with ServiceNow to JSM migration is a plus.


Compensation & Location

Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)

Location: Houston, TX
