Role Overview

As a contract professional, you will be integrated into a high-performing team responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of mainframe applications. This includes initial design, complex coding, rigorous testing, and production debugging. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop robust mainframe applications using COBOL, DB2, and JCL to meet evolving business requirements.

  • Write and optimize complex Stored Procedures to improve database performance and reduce latency in data retrieval.
  • Manage batch processing workflows and ensure timely execution of JCL streams within production environments.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure adherence to organizational coding standards and security protocols.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical bugs within the mainframe environment to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems analysts and database administrators, to align software solutions with business goals.
  • Perform unit and integration testing to ensure the quality and reliability of all software deliverables.
  • Document technical specifications and maintenance procedures to support long-term system sustainability.

Technical Requirements

Candidates must possess a deep understanding of the IBM Mainframe ecosystem. Proficiency in COBOL is mandatory, as is extensive experience with DB2 for relational database management. Knowledge of JCL for job scheduling and CICS for online systems is essential for success in this role. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working with VSAM files and developing efficient batch processes that handle large volumes of data. Familiarity with modern DevOps practices integrated into mainframe environments is a significant plus.

Salary: $145,000 – $185,000 per year (Estimated)
