Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advanced IBM Cognos Developer to join our dynamic team in Atlanta, GA. This is a senior-level position requiring a deep understanding of business intelligence, data warehousing, and enterprise-level reporting. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex reporting solutions that drive data-informed decision-making across the organization, particularly within healthcare and ERP environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop sophisticated reports, interactive dashboards, and data visualizations using the latest IBM Cognos Analytics (11.x) suite.
- Utilize advanced features of Report Studio, Analysis Studio, Event Studio, and Framework Manager to create robust BI solutions.
- Develop and maintain dimensional models, including Star and Snowflake schemas, to support scalable data warehouse layers.
- Implement complex report bursting techniques and optimize report performance to ensure timely delivery of critical business insights.
- Lead the migration of legacy Cognos reports (Series 6, 8, and 10) to Cognos 11 or alternative BI platforms such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Perform comprehensive ETL data mapping, transformation, profiling, and validation to ensure data integrity and quality.
- Write and tune complex SQL, PL/SQL, and MDX queries to extract and manipulate data from various sources including SQL Server, Oracle, and IBM DB2.
- Provide specialized reporting support for ERP systems such as Banner and PeopleSoft, covering functional areas like HR, Payroll, AR, and Financial Aid.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical specifications.
Technical Requirements
- Extensive expertise in IBM Cognos Analytics 11.x and its associated development tools.
- Proven experience in relational and multidimensional data modeling using Framework Manager and Transformer.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL with a focus on performance tuning and optimization.
- Hands-on experience with ETL processes and data warehousing methodologies.
- Familiarity with diverse database environments including Oracle, SQL Server, and DB2.
- Prior exposure to healthcare industry reporting and compliance standards is highly preferred.
Professional Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 8 years of experience in BI development with a focus on the Cognos ecosystem. You should demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to work independently on complex projects, and excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between technical teams and business users. This 6+ month contract offers a competitive rate and the opportunity to work on high-impact projects in a collaborative environment.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $140,000 – $155,000 per year
