Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cognos Report Developer (Advanced Level) to join our dynamic Business Intelligence team in Atlanta, Georgia. This onsite position is critical for driving data-driven decision-making within a complex healthcare and ERP environment. The successful candidate will leverage their deep expertise in IBM Cognos Analytics to design, develop, and maintain sophisticated reporting solutions that meet the evolving needs of our stakeholders.
Technical Responsibilities
- Advanced proficiency in IBM Cognos Analytics (11.x) including Report Studio, Analysis Studio, Event Studio, and Framework Manager.
- Design and implementation of complex dashboards, visualizations, and multidimensional reports using Dynamic Cubes and Transformer.
- Expertise in report bursting and distribution strategies for large-scale enterprise environments.
- Leading the migration of legacy BI solutions from Series 6 and Cognos 8/10/11 to modern platforms.
- Converting existing Cognos reports to modern visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI where required.
- Performing deep data profiling, validation, and cleansing to ensure the highest levels of data quality and integrity.
Data Modeling and ETL
- Strong experience in dimensional modeling, including star and snowflake schemas, as well as relational modeling.
- Building and optimizing data warehouse layers to support high-performance reporting.
- Hands-on experience with ETL processes, including data mapping, transformation logic, and comprehensive documentation of end-to-end data flows.
- Advanced command over SQL and PL/SQL, including the creation of stored procedures, triggers, and performance tuning.
- Troubleshooting and debugging Cognos-generated SQL and working with MDX queries.
Domain and Functional Expertise
- Foundational knowledge of Healthcare industry standards and data structures.
- Experience working with ERP systems such as Banner and PeopleSoft (specifically Compensation, Global Payroll, HR, and Financial Aid modules).
- Ability to interact with business stakeholders to gather complex reporting requirements and translate them into scalable BI solutions.
- Experience managing onshore-offshore delivery models and maintaining clear communication across distributed teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional programming experience in Python, R, Java, C, or C++.
- Familiarity with Big Data ecosystems including Hadoop, Spark, Sqoop, and Cloudera.
- Experience with Jupyter Notebooks for data analysis.
- Competency in Business Objects (WebI, Universe design).
Special Requirements
Healthcare domain knowledge required. Position is strictly onsite in Atlanta, GA.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $118,000 – $152,000 per year (Estimated)
