Role Overview

The AV Technician role in Marlborough, MA, is a critical onsite position focused on maintaining the integrity and functionality of high-level conference and meeting spaces. As an Audio-Visual specialist, you will be the primary point of contact for all technical needs within the facility, ensuring that communication technology remains seamless for all stakeholders. This contract position requires a proactive individual capable of managing hardware, software, and user expectations in a fast-paced corporate environment. You will work as part of a broader IT infrastructure team to ensure that the local site’s AV capabilities meet global standards and support the daily operations of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting comprehensive daily checks of all conference rooms to ensure readiness for scheduled meetings and events.
  • Performing rigorous testing of all room equipment, including displays, microphones, speakers, and control interfaces.
  • Monitoring hardware power status and performing routine maintenance such as battery replacements for remotes and wireless peripherals.
  • Verifying the correct functionality of advanced audio and video features, including integration with platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Webex.
  • Troubleshooting complex technical issues in real-time, minimizing downtime during critical business presentations.
  • Collaborating with external vendors to facilitate repairs, upgrades, or specialized maintenance tasks.
  • Maintaining the aesthetic and physical order of conference spaces, coordinating with facilities management for any structural or furniture-related needs.
  • Utilizing enterprise monitoring solutions to proactively identify system failures before they impact end-users.
  • Providing immediate, high-touch support to users experiencing difficulties with AV technology during active sessions.
  • Managing and responding to service requests through the ServiceNow ticketing system, ensuring all incidents are documented and resolved within SLA.
  • Leading AV training sessions for site staff to improve user self-sufficiency and promote best practices for equipment usage.
  • Acting as the local subject matter expert for all AV-related projects, including system implementations and environment upgrades.

Technical Requirements and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in IT support with a specific focus on Audio-Visual systems. Experience with control systems (such as Crestron, Extron, or Q-SYS) is highly desirable. You should be proficient in troubleshooting HDMI, DisplayPort, and wireless casting technologies. Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ITSM tools is required for workflow management. Candidates should have a proven track record of working with hardware power status confirmation and battery level management for critical peripherals.

Special Projects and Strategic Implementation

Beyond daily maintenance, the AV Technician will serve as a key stakeholder in local site upgrades. This involves working closely with the global AV engineering group to implement standardized changes across the local environment. You will be responsible for the physical deployment of new hardware, ensuring that all cabling and mounting meet corporate standards. During special projects, you may be required to assist in the design phase, providing feedback on local site constraints and user needs to ensure that new solutions are fit for purpose.

ServiceNow and Documentation

A significant portion of this role involves administrative diligence. Every interaction, from a simple battery change to a complex system overhaul, must be logged within ServiceNow. This data is used to track equipment reliability and justify future capital expenditures. The technician is expected to maintain accurate inventory records of all AV assets at the Marlborough site, including serial numbers, warranty information, and firmware versions.

Professional Environment

This role is based onsite in Marlborough, Massachusetts. The environment is professional and requires excellent communication skills, as you will be interacting with executives and external clients. The ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users is essential for the training and support aspects of this position. This is a contract engagement offered at a rate of $32.90 per hour on a C2C basis.
