Role Overview: Infrastructure / Solution Architect
Scalable Systems Inc is seeking a highly experienced Infrastructure and Solution Architect to lead the design and implementation of enterprise-grade technology solutions in Baltimore, MD. This hybrid/onsite role requires a visionary leader capable of bridging the gap between complex business requirements and robust technical infrastructure. As we move into 2026, the landscape of IT infrastructure is increasingly defined by multi-cloud environments, container orchestration, and automated provisioning. The successful candidate will be at the forefront of this evolution, ensuring our clients’ systems are scalable, resilient, and future-proof.
Key Responsibilities
- Architecture & Design: Design and document comprehensive infrastructure solutions across on-premises, cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), and hybrid environments. You will define the standards and best practices that govern our architectural patterns.
- Engineering & Implementation: Lead the deployment of critical server, storage, and networking technologies. You will be responsible for automating infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation.
- Operations & Optimization: Continuously monitor system performance and implement strategic improvements. This includes managing capacity planning, disaster recovery protocols, and cost optimization strategies within cloud ecosystems.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Work closely with software engineering, security, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration with CI/CD pipelines. Provide mentorship to junior engineers and foster a culture of knowledge sharing.
Technical Requirements
- Expertise in Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Deep knowledge of Exadata, Linux, and Solaris environments.
- Advanced proficiency in Virtualization and Containerization (VMware, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for infrastructure automation.
- Comprehensive understanding of networking, storage, and server technologies.
Managerial & Soft Skills
- Exceptional communication skills for stakeholder alignment and conflict resolution.
- Proven ability in resource planning, task prioritization, and risk mitigation.
- Strong decision-making capabilities based on data-driven analysis.
- Experience in managing internal and external stakeholders while navigating competing priorities.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $170,000 – $225,000 per year (Estimated)
