Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mainframe IMS Administrator to join our mission-critical infrastructure team in Atlanta, GA. This role is pivotal in ensuring the stability, performance, and scalability of our enterprise-level database environments. As a Senior Administrator, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of IMS DBDC and DB2 environments on z/OS platforms, supporting high-volume transactional systems that form the backbone of our corporate operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute comprehensive administration of IBM DB2 and IMS DBDC databases on z/OS mainframe platforms, ensuring 24/7 availability.
- Manage and maintain ADABAS environments, including performance tuning and capacity planning.
- Implement and oversee data replication strategies using IBM InfoSphere Data Replication (IIDR) suite to ensure data consistency across distributed systems.
- Develop and maintain zConnect Enterprise Edition (zCEE) API frameworks to facilitate seamless integration between mainframe assets and modern cloud applications.
- Perform advanced SQL tuning, DB2 partitioning, and indexing to optimize system performance and reduce CPU consumption.
- Collaborate with application development teams to provide expert guidance on database design, JCL optimization, and efficient data access patterns.
- Lead disaster recovery planning and execution, including regular testing of backup and recovery procedures to meet stringent RTO and RPO requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex system issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing long-term remediation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with data security standards and regulatory requirements through rigorous auditing and access control management.
Technical Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in Mainframe Systems Administration with a focus on IMS and DB2.
- Expert proficiency in z/OS operating system concepts, JCL, and mainframe utilities.
- Strong experience with IBM InfoSphere DataStage for ETL processes and data integration.
- In-depth knowledge of DB2 data sharing, buffer pool management, and system-level performance monitoring.
- Familiarity with ADABAS/Natural environments and associated administration tools.
- Proven ability to manage large-scale database upgrades and patch management cycles with minimal downtime.
Education and Professional Attributes
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- Relevant IBM certifications in DB2 or IMS Administration are highly preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure in a production support environment.
- Strong communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
