Role Overview: Workday Adaptive Planning Consultant

We are looking for a seasoned Workday Adaptive Planning Consultant for a long-term remote engagement. This role is pivotal in driving financial planning excellence across various business units, including Opex, Workforce, Revenue, and COGS. The consultant will be responsible for the full implementation lifecycle, from initial discovery and requirement gathering to final deployment and post-production support. This is a high-impact position that requires a deep understanding of financial modeling and the technical nuances of the Workday Adaptive Planning platform.

Core Responsibilities

  • Configure and optimize Adaptive Planning models tailored to specific business planning areas.
  • Lead requirement workshops with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives.
  • Manage complex hierarchies, dimensions, and versions within the Adaptive environment.
  • Oversee data integration processes, validating loads from source systems like Azure and BPC/Excel.
  • Facilitate sandbox testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Manage phase-aligned planning activities, including versioning and cloning of models.
  • Utilize OfficeConnect and matrix reports to deliver insightful financial analytics to leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with Workday Adaptive Planning.
  • Deep expertise in specific planning modules: Opex, Revenue, COGS, or Workforce.
  • Proven track record of at least one end-to-end implementation project.
  • Advanced proficiency in L3 model configurations and complex financial modeling.
  • Strong understanding of data mapping and ETL processes from external data warehouses.

Strategic Impact and Remote Collaboration

As a remote consultant, you will play a vital role in bridging the gap between finance and technology. You will be expected to provide strategic guidance on best practices for financial forecasting and budgeting within the Workday ecosystem. This role requires a high degree of self-motivation and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical business users. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across different time zones, ensuring that the planning models are robust, scalable, and provide a ‘single source of truth’ for the organization’s financial data. Your contributions will directly impact the company’s ability to make data-driven decisions and respond quickly to market changes. The long-term nature of this contract provides an excellent opportunity to deeply embed yourself in the client’s financial processes and drive meaningful, lasting improvements in their planning capabilities.

Technical Excellence and Data Integrity

Maintaining data integrity is paramount in this role. You will be responsible for auditing data flows and ensuring that all financial transformations are accurate and transparent. This involves working with Azure-based data lakes and legacy Excel-based models to migrate data into the Adaptive Planning environment. You will also be expected to stay abreast of the latest Workday releases and features, recommending enhancements that can further streamline the planning process. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of financial acumen and technical prowess, allowing them to understand the ‘why’ behind the numbers as well as the ‘how’ of the configuration. By implementing advanced security protocols and access controls within the models, you will ensure that sensitive financial information is protected while remaining accessible to authorized stakeholders. This position is a perfect fit for a consultant who thrives in a fast-paced, remote environment and is passionate about leveraging technology to solve complex financial challenges.
