Role Overview: Backend Java Developer (Telecom Domain)
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Backend Java Developer to join our engineering team in Middletown, NJ. This is a critical role requiring a deep understanding of distributed systems and wireless network behaviors. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend services that power large-scale telecommunications infrastructure. As a senior member of the team, you will work on complex microservices architectures and ensure high availability and performance across distributed environments.
Key Responsibilities and Technical Requirements
- Design and implement scalable backend services using Java and Python, ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end.
- Develop and maintain microservices architectures, focusing on distributed systems and workflow orchestration.
- Utilize deep knowledge of networking protocols across Layer 2, Layer 3, and Layer 4 to optimize network-dependent applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features within a Tier 1 carrier environment.
- Implement Temporal workflow orchestration frameworks to manage complex, long-running business processes (preferred).
- Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
- Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and mentorship of junior developers to maintain high engineering standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience as a Backend Engineer with strong proficiency in Python and solid expertise in Java.
- Mandatory experience working within a Tier 1 Telecommunications carrier environment.
- Extensive experience building and deploying microservices and distributed systems in production.
- Strong working knowledge of networking fundamentals, specifically Layers 2 through 4.
- Familiarity with cloud-native technologies and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, hybrid environment (3 days on-site in Middletown, NJ).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
