Role Overview
Amaze Systems Inc. is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Java Lead Developer to spearhead the development and modernization of our enterprise-scale eCommerce platform. Located onsite in Lisle, Illinois, this role is pivotal for a professional who thrives in a leadership capacity while remaining deeply technical. As a Lead Developer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of complex software solutions, from initial architectural design to final deployment and maintenance. This position requires a candidate who can balance the immediate needs of feature development with the long-term goals of system scalability and technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement sophisticated integrations and features within existing platforms to support a next-generation eCommerce ecosystem using Java EE.
- Lead the modernization and refactoring of legacy codebases to significantly enhance performance, maintainability, and global scalability.
- Oversee the enhancement of user interfaces utilizing HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to ensure a seamless and intuitive customer experience.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, UX/UI designers, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate high-level business requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Drive the overall architecture of Java EE applications, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and future-proofing the technology stack.
- Define and enforce rigorous coding standards, design patterns, and best practices across the development team to ensure code quality.
- Act as a technical mentor for junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Lead design reviews and complex problem-solving sessions, providing constructive feedback to maintain high engineering standards.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for architects, DevOps, and security teams to ensure integrated and secure deployments.
- Influence product roadmaps and technical priorities through data-driven recommendations and deep industry insights.
Technical Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience in high-stakes environments.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in Java development, with a strong emphasis on Java EE and enterprise-scale systems.
- At least 6 years of hands-on experience with the Spring Boot framework and microservices architecture.
- 6+ years of experience in front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for building responsive user interfaces.
- Proven track record of modernizing legacy systems and integrating new features into complex, existing production environments.
- Deep understanding of RESTful API design, security patterns (OAuth, JWT), and complex integration strategies.
- Experience with cloud-native or hybrid architectures, with a strong preference for Microsoft Azure environments.
- Familiarity with modern CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps practices, and automated quality assurance gates.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $150,000 – $200,000 per year (Estimated)
