Role Overview: Reference Data Business Analyst

In the complex financial ecosystem of 2026, data is the most valuable asset. We are looking for a Senior Reference Data Business Analyst to join our team in Tampa, FL. This hybrid role is critical for supporting enterprise-wide data initiatives that span across trading, risk management, operations, and regulatory reporting. You will serve as the vital link between business stakeholders and technology teams, ensuring that our security master data and market data feeds are accurate, consistent, and compliant with the latest global regulations. Your work will directly impact the firm’s ability to manage risk and execute trades efficiently. As financial markets become increasingly data-driven, the role of the Reference Data Business Analyst has never been more important. You will be responsible for ensuring that the data used by our systems is of the highest quality and that it is delivered in a timely and efficient manner. This requires a deep understanding of financial instruments, market data, and the regulatory environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Requirement Gathering & Documentation: You will lead the effort to gather and analyze business requirements related to security master data, pricing, corporate actions, and counterparty information. This includes creating high-quality BRDs, FRDs, and user stories that translate complex business needs into actionable technical specifications. You will work closely with business users to understand their needs and ensure that the technical solutions meet those needs.
  • Data Governance & Standards: Partnering with the Front Office, Risk, and Compliance teams, you will define and implement data standards and governance controls. You will be responsible for mapping data lineage and performing gap analysis to ensure data integrity across all upstream and downstream systems. This involves establishing clear ownership of data and ensuring that data quality is monitored and maintained.
  • Regulatory Compliance: You will play a key role in regulatory initiatives such as CAT, TRACE, EMIR, and SFTR. Your expertise will ensure that our reporting is accurate and meets the stringent requirements of the SEC and other global regulators. You will need to stay up-to-date with the latest regulatory changes and ensure that our systems and processes are updated accordingly.
  • Platform Implementation: Support the implementation and optimization of data platforms, including Golden Source, MDM solutions, and Snowflake-based data lakes. You will define data quality rules and KPIs to monitor the health of our data ecosystem. This involves working with technology teams to ensure that the platforms are configured correctly and that they meet the needs of the business.
  • UAT & Remediation: You will coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), manage defect resolution, and lead data reconciliation efforts to remediate any discrepancies in our “golden source” records. This requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work effectively with both business and technical teams.

Technical Skills and Experience

  • Over 8 years of experience as a Business Analyst within the capital markets or banking sector.
  • Deep domain knowledge of financial instruments, including Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives, and Structured Products.
  • Expertise in security identifiers such as CUSIP, ISIN, SEDOL, and familiarity with vendor feeds like Bloomberg, Refinitiv, and Markit.
  • Strong SQL skills with the ability to query large, complex datasets for analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Master Data Management (MDM) platforms like Informatica or Markit EDM.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (AWS/Azure/Snowflake) and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to navigate a fast-paced, multi-functional environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex business needs into technical specifications.

The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented professional with a passion for data accuracy. You will be expected to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines. This is a long-term project that offers the opportunity to work on some of the most challenging and rewarding data initiatives in the financial services industry today. We offer a collaborative and supportive work environment, as well as opportunities for professional growth and development.
