We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Senior GCP Cloud Architect to join our team in Houston, TX. This is a high-priority, hybrid role requiring four days of mandatory onsite presence at our client’s facility. As a lead architect, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise-scale cloud solutions within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem. This position is specifically tailored for CenterPoint Energy, a major utility provider, and requires a professional who can balance high-level architectural strategy with hands-on senior-level development.
Key Responsibilities
- Enterprise Cloud Foundations: Design and deploy production-grade landing zones, Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), and shared VPC architectures to support complex utility-scale operations.
- High Availability & Resilience: Architect and manage resilient systems utilizing Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and Compute Engine across multiple regions and zones to ensure 24/7 operational continuity.
- Migration Strategy: Lead the assessment, planning, and execution of migrating legacy on-premise workloads to modern, cloud-native GCP services.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Standardize environment provisioning using Terraform or Google Deployment Manager to ensure consistency, repeatability, and speed of delivery across development, staging, and production environments.
- IAM & Governance: Implement granular Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies and organization-level constraints to maintain a robust zero-trust security posture.
- CI/CD Orchestration: Build and optimize automated deployment pipelines using Google Cloud Build and Artifact Registry to streamline the software development lifecycle.
- Hybrid Connectivity: Oversee and secure connections between on-premise data centers and GCP using Cloud Interconnect or VPN tunnels, ensuring low-latency and high-security data transfer.
- Data Services: Design scalable data storage and processing solutions using BigQuery, Cloud SQL, and Cloud Storage to support advanced analytics and reporting.
Technical Requirements & Qualifications
The ideal candidate must possess deep professional experience in Google Cloud Architecture, specifically focusing on IAM, GKE, Networking, and BigQuery. A strong hands-on background in Terraform for GCP resource management is mandatory. Candidates must be currently residing in the Houston, TX area and be able to commit to the 4-day onsite schedule. We are looking for a proven track record as a Lead Developer or Architect in large-scale enterprise environments, with a specific focus on implementing security best practices and compliance controls in a cloud environment.
