Role Overview: Lead GIS Consultant for Utility Modernization
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Consultant-GIS to join our team in New York. This is a pivotal techno-functional leadership role focused on implementing cutting-edge GIS solutions for Electric and Gas Utilities, specifically leveraging the ESRI platform. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the North American utility market and a proven track record of successful GIS system implementations. As a lead, you will bridge the gap between complex technical requirements and business objectives, ensuring that spatial data infrastructure supports critical utility operations and asset management.
Key Responsibilities and Technical Leadership
- Lead the architectural design and practical implementation of GIS solutions using ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Desktop.
- Drive the migration and data mapping of utility datasets to the Utility Network (UN) and ArcGIS Pipeline Referencing (APR) data models.
- Provide hands-on expertise in deploying and administering enterprise GIS environments, including Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Server.
- Oversee the integration of specialized utility suites such as ArcFM Desktop, Geocortex, and GBM to enhance legacy system transitions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex functional issues and ensure alignment with industry standards for electric and gas workflows.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for configurations, data management practices, and python-based automation scripts.
- Act as a primary point of contact for business users, translating technical spatial concepts into actionable business insights.
- Manage full-cycle implementations from initial requirement gathering through to final deployment and post-production support.
Strategic Impact and Domain Expertise
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that the utility’s spatial data is accurate, accessible, and integrated with other enterprise systems like asset management and network operations. Your expertise in ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123 will be crucial in modernizing field data collection processes, enabling real-time updates from the field to the office. By leveraging your 8-12 years of industry experience, you will guide the project team through the complexities of Utility Network migrations, ensuring that the digital twin of the utility’s physical assets is robust and reliable. This position requires a proactive team player who can work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and travel to client locations as needed to ensure project success.
Special Requirements
Utility and GIS domain background required. Experience with ESRI Utility Network and APR is mandatory. Ready to travel to client locations as needed.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
