Position Summary: IT Manager (Governance, Risk, and Compliance)
We are seeking a seasoned IT Manager to lead Process & Governance Oversight for a major public sector client in Atlanta, GA. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all IT project requests, recurring products, and services comply with internal governance frameworks, security protocols, and stringent regulatory standards. The successful candidate will act as a high-level liaison between business units and IT, facilitating the intake and review process for new technology initiatives. This is a hybrid position requiring 1-2 days onsite weekly in Atlanta, focusing on maintaining the integrity of the Division’s inventory of rules, regulations, and IT policies. You will be responsible for guiding projects through prioritization committees and ensuring that every initiative aligns with the enterprise architecture and strategic goals of the agency.
Core Responsibilities and Governance Oversight
- Perform comprehensive governance oversight to ensure all IT project requests meet internal security and regulatory compliance standards.
- Facilitate the IT project intake process, reviewing submissions for technical feasibility, strategic alignment, and clarity of scope.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architects and Cybersecurity teams to validate solution integrity and compatibility with existing systems.
- Develop, review, and maintain IT policy and procedure documentation, ensuring adherence to NDAA, NIST, and other relevant standards.
- Prepare and present project packages to internal governance boards or steering committees for formal approval.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation for all reviewed projects in accordance with audit requirements.
- Collect and analyze IT quality metrics to support continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.
- Draft new regulations, guidance, and policies for management approval within assigned timeframes.
Required Skills and Professional Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of direct experience in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) within an IT environment.
- Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and IT governance frameworks.
- Demonstrated proficiency in research and information analysis to make high-level recommendations.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to facilitate meetings between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong leadership abilities, with experience motivating teams and guiding them toward organizational goals.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines using independent judgment.
- Experience in the public sector or highly regulated industries is strongly preferred.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, IT, Business Administration, or a related field.
Operational Requirements and Environment
This role operates in a hybrid capacity, requiring the candidate to be local to the Atlanta area for weekly onsite collaboration. The environment is fast-paced and requires a manager who can quickly shift priorities in response to unexpected changes. You will be expected to maintain expert knowledge of applicable laws and Division policies, ensuring that the organization remains compliant at all times. The selection process includes a web-cam interview, and the chosen candidate must be prepared to start within 10 business days of selection. This is a 12-month engagement with the potential for extension, offering a significant opportunity to impact the IT governance landscape of a major state agency. Compensation & Location
Salary: $111,800 – $145,000 per year
