Role Overview: Lead Android Developer
We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Lead Android Developer to join our engineering team onsite in Rocklin, California. This is a critical leadership role requiring a deep technical foundation in mobile ecosystem development and a proven track record of guiding engineering teams through complex project lifecycles. As a Lead Developer, you will be responsible for the architectural integrity, performance, and scalability of our flagship Android applications, ensuring they meet the highest standards of user experience and technical excellence.
Technical Leadership and Architecture
- Lead the design and implementation of robust, modular Android applications using Kotlin and Java.
- Drive the adoption of modern architectural patterns such as MVVM, MVI, and Clean Architecture to ensure maintainability and testability.
- Oversee the integration of Jetpack Compose for modern UI development, ensuring fluid animations and responsive layouts.
- Manage complex state management using Coroutines and Flow, optimizing for performance and resource efficiency.
- Implement advanced dependency injection strategies using Hilt or Dagger to decouple components and facilitate unit testing.
- Ensure high-quality data persistence strategies using Room and efficient network communication via Retrofit and OkHttp.
Strategic Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, UI/UX Designers, and Backend Engineers to define technical requirements and roadmaps.
- Mentor junior and mid-level developers, conducting thorough code reviews and fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical rigor.
- Own the mobile CI/CD pipeline, ensuring automated testing, static analysis, and seamless deployment to the Google Play Store.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks early in the development cycle, providing clear communication to stakeholders regarding timelines and resource needs.
- Stay abreast of the latest Android SDK updates, Google Play Services enhancements, and emerging mobile technologies to keep our stack competitive.
Operational Excellence
- Optimize application performance, focusing on startup time, memory usage, and battery consumption.
- Implement comprehensive analytics and crash reporting tools like Firebase Analytics and Mixpanel to drive data-informed improvements.
- Manage deep linking, push notifications, and offline caching mechanisms to enhance user engagement and reliability.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, providing accurate estimations and driving sprint goals to completion.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $165,000 – $215,000 per year (Estimated)
