Role Overview
The Server-Side API Engineer will be a critical contributor to our mobile and new feature development team in Atlanta, GA. This position is designed for a high-impact engineer who thrives in a ‘Day One Onsite’ environment, contributing to the evolution of our backend ecosystem. You will be responsible for building robust server-side applications that power seamless mobile experiences for millions of users. This role requires a blend of modern development practices and the ability to navigate complex legacy systems with precision and care.
Key Responsibilities
- Architecting and building scalable server-side applications using Kotlin and Java to support mobile feature sets.
- Writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code while proactively refactoring legacy systems to improve performance and reliability.
- Implementing and managing build tools and Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines to ensure rapid and stable delivery cycles.
- Optimizing application performance and conducting deep-dive analysis to resolve bottlenecks in high-traffic environments.
- Designing innovative solutions for open-ended problems and integrating with bespoke, hand-crafted backend services from previous generations.
- Collaborating within a self-starting team environment to deliver high-quality features from conception to production.
- Engaging in the full software development lifecycle, including unit testing, bug fixing, and code deletion to maintain a lean codebase.
Technical Requirements
- Proven experience in building server-side applications with a focus on API development.
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java, with a deep understanding of asynchronous programming.
- Experience with modern API technologies such as REST and GraphQL.
- Familiarity with build automation tools like Gradle and CI/CD workflows.
- Ability to work with legacy codebases and perform complex refactoring without disrupting service.
- Strong analytical skills for performance optimization and troubleshooting.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $140,000 – $185,000 per year (Estimated)
