Role Overview: SAP ABAP Vistex Technical Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SAP ABAP Vistex Technical Consultant for a critical 6-month contract engagement in Raritan, New Jersey. This role is designed for a senior professional with 8 to 10 years of deep technical expertise in SAP Advanced Business Application Programming (ABAP), specifically within non-HANA environments. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in customizing and extending SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) functionalities to align with complex business requirements.

Key Responsibilities and Technical Duties

  • Development and Customization: You will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of custom ABAP programs. This includes designing, developing, and implementing enhancements and modifications within the SAP EWM module. You will focus on creating robust RICEF objects (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, and Forms) that drive warehouse efficiency.
  • Integration Excellence: A core part of this role involves developing and maintaining seamless interfaces between SAP EWM and other modules such as ECC or S/4HANA. You will utilize a variety of integration technologies, including RFC, BAPI, IDoc, and Web Services, to ensure data integrity across the enterprise landscape.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting: As a technical expert, you will provide high-level support for complex SAP EWM ABAP issues. This includes deep-dive debugging, performance tuning of legacy code, and resolving technical bottlenecks that impact warehouse operations.
  • Framework Proficiency: Candidates must demonstrate a profound understanding of ABAP Objects (classes, methods, inheritance) and EWM-specific frameworks. Expertise in the Post Processing Framework (PPF), Business Add-Ins (BADIs), and enhancement spots is mandatory for extending standard EWM functionality.

Strategic and Managerial Expectations

  • Stakeholder Management: You must possess the ability to act as a bridge between business users, warehouse operations teams, functional consultants, and technical developers. Prioritizing requirements and managing expectations is key to project success.
  • Quality Ownership: You will be expected to take full ownership of the development quality. This includes planning activities, providing accurate estimations, tracking progress against timelines, and enforcing strict coding standards to ensure high-quality delivery.
  • Documentation: Creating and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation is a requirement. All solutions must adhere to SAP best practices and architectural guidelines to ensure long-term system stability and maintainability.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $150,000 – $190,000 per year (Estimated)
