Role Overview: Azure Data Architect (Insurance Domain)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Azure Data Architect with a deep specialization in the Insurance domain to join our growing team. This role is critical in shaping the future of data architecture for our insurance clients, focusing on core areas such as Customer, Claims, and Policy management. As a senior leader in the data space, you will be responsible for understanding complex enterprise data structures and aligning them with modern Azure and Snowflake services to conceptualize and deliver high-value data products.

Key Responsibilities and Technical Leadership

  • Design and govern comprehensive conceptual, logical, and physical data models specifically tailored for Insurance domains, ensuring they support the creation of robust data products.
  • Map intricate data elements from various insurance workflows and legacy applications to modern Operational Data Stores (ODS) and Data Warehousing environments.
  • Partner closely with business stakeholders, data engineering teams, and platform architects to enable advanced insights creation that drives measurable business value.
  • Provide expert-level support for Azure-based data platforms, optimizing models for high performance, cost-efficiency, and future scalability.
  • Develop and maintain sophisticated data pipelines and engineering solutions using SQL and Python.
  • Lead the transition from traditional data warehousing to modern data lakehouse architectures, leveraging Azure platform capabilities.
  • Ensure data governance and security standards are met across all architectural designs, particularly concerning sensitive insurance data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data strategy and roadmap for insurance-specific analytics.
  • Mentor junior data engineers and architects on best practices in Azure data modeling and insurance data standards.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies in the Azure ecosystem, evaluating their potential impact on the insurance data landscape.

Qualifications and Domain Expertise

The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of technical prowess and deep industry knowledge. You must have a proven track record of delivering complex data solutions within the insurance sector. Proficiency in Azure platform services is mandatory, along with a strong understanding of Data Lake and Data Warehousing concepts. While the current focus excludes MS Fabric and Snowflake for immediate tasks, prior experience in these areas is highly valued for future extensibility. Candidates must demonstrate hands-on experience in SQL and Python, with a clear ability to build and manage scalable data pipelines. Excellent communication skills are essential for partnering with business leaders to translate requirements into technical specifications. This role requires a strategic thinker who can balance immediate project needs with long-term architectural goals.
