Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Android Developer to join our dynamic engineering team in Rocklin, CA. This is a pivotal leadership role requiring a deep technical understanding of the Android ecosystem combined with the ability to mentor junior developers and drive architectural decisions. As a Lead Developer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of mobile applications, from initial concept and design to deployment and maintenance. You will work closely with product managers, UI/UX designers, and backend engineers to deliver high-quality, scalable, and performant mobile solutions that meet our business objectives.
Technical Requirements
- 12+ years of total software development experience with a minimum of 8+ years dedicated to Android development using Kotlin and Java.
- Expertise in modern Android development tools and libraries, including Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Flow, Room, Hilt/Dagger, and Retrofit/OkHttp.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing modular app architectures and multi-module projects.
- Deep understanding of dependency injection, offline caching, pagination, and deep linking.
- Hands-on experience with mobile CI/CD pipelines and version control systems like Git and GitHub.
- Familiarity with Firebase services, Google Play Services, and the integration of payment SDKs.
- Experience with analytics tools such as Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, or App Center to drive data-informed development.
- Strong knowledge of integrating RESTful APIs, GraphQL, or gRPC endpoints.
Leadership and Communication
- Demonstrated experience leading Android development teams within an Agile/Scrum framework.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including iOS, QA, and backend departments.
- Strong ownership mindset with a proactive approach to identifying technical risks and driving resolutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work across different time zones and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will lead the technical direction of our Android platform, ensuring that our applications are built with the highest standards of quality and performance. You will conduct code reviews, establish best practices, and mentor team members to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Additionally, you will be involved in strategic planning, helping to define the mobile roadmap and ensuring that our technology stack remains current with industry trends. Your expertise in push notifications, analytics, and performance optimization will be critical in enhancing the user experience and driving engagement across our mobile products.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,600 – $160,000 per year
