Job Overview:

This role is for a Senior Project Manager with a focus on the Healthcare Domain, specifically within the State of Georgia’s Department of Public Health (DPH). The position is based in Atlanta, GA, and requires an onsite presence. The primary responsibility is to plan, coordinate, organize, and assess the development and implementation of data modernization projects within the State Office of Vital Records. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing data quality, modernizing legacy systems, and ensuring alignment with strategic vision through effective project management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, organize, and assess the development and implementation of data modernization projects within the State Office of Vital Records.
  • Develop and implement data quality policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Support functional and technological advancements of records maintenance, retention, delivery, and quality.
  • Assist in modernizing Vital Records legacy systems with FHIR standards.
  • Develop and execute program goals, objectives, and scope to ensure alignment with the State Office of Vital Records strategic vision.
  • Assess the allocation of resources across multiple projects to develop challenging, but achievable project schedules.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to prioritize projects.
  • Identify and assign tasks, activities, and milestones to Office staff.
  • Identify, assess, and analyze risks and issues that could impact program delivery and develop mitigation plans.
  • Communicate project and program progress to stakeholders, including all levels of staff up to senior leadership.
  • Oversee multiple projects, including meeting facilitation, project coordination, progress reporting, performance, and budget management.
  • Foster a collaborative environment using transparent communication and proven processes.
  • Execute best practices and project management standards to support the development of a program portfolio.
  • Create documentation to support all program management efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • College degree in business management, public health administration, or a related degree, OR 10 years of experience working with a combination of skills and experience that supports the successful execution of the job responsibilities.
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing a portfolio of at least 7 projects.
  • Experience implementing FHIR standards.
  • Experience implementing application programming interfaces (APIs).
  • Knowledge of public health data.
  • 5+ years of experience performing in a project management role overseeing IT projects.
  • Experience working in a State Government environment deploying or maintaining IT systems.
  • Experience with Response for Proposal/Request for Information analysis and response.
  • 5+ years of experience documenting systems, standard operating procedures, and/or governance documentation related to IT systems.
  • 3+ years of experience in business process improvements and performance business analysis.

Work Arrangement:

  • This position requires an onsite presence at the Vital Records State Office in Atlanta, GA.
  • The candidate selected for this position will not be required to travel.
  • The candidate selected for this position is expected to complete an 8-hour workday within the hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
  • The candidate selected for this position must work in-office for two months prior to potentially working a hybrid schedule (though the initial requirement is strictly onsite).

Special Requirements

Onsite Required for the duration of the assignment. Candidates will not be permitted to work remotely. Agency Interview Type: Either Web Cam or In Person. Must work in-office for two months prior to working a hybrid schedule.


Compensation & Location

Salary: $70 – $90 per year (Estimated)

Location: Atlanta, GA
