Job Description:
The Sr. Technical Business Analyst will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions, focusing on data analysis, integration, and stakeholder communication within a complex data environment. This role requires a strong understanding of data warehousing, ETL processes, and advanced SQL, particularly within Snowflake. The ideal candidate will be adept at translating business requirements into detailed technical specifications and collaborating effectively with data engineers and architects.
- Data Analysis & Profiling: Write and execute complex SQL queries to profile source data, assess data quality, identify anomalies, and perform source-to-target gap analysis. Analyze large datasets in Snowflake to uncover trends, data quality issues, and insights that inform requirements and solution design. Define data validation rules and reconciliation approaches for data pipelines.
- ETL Mapping & Data Integration Support: Lead ETL/source-to-target mapping sessions with business stakeholders and data engineers to define field-level mappings, transformation rules, and business logic. Read and interpret data models, source system schemas, and integration documentation to inform requirements and mapping decisions. Collaborate with data engineers and architects to ensure requirements align with enterprise data standards.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring clear and consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle. Facilitate requirements gathering sessions, workshops, and status updates.
- Technical Skills: Strong SQL proficiency is essential, with the ability to write complex queries involving joins, subqueries, window functions, CTEs, and aggregations, particularly within Snowflake. Demonstrated experience with data profiling and data analysis techniques, including source system evaluation, data quality assessment, and reconciliation. Solid understanding of data integration concepts: ETL/ELT processes, API-based integrations, CDC, batch vs. streaming, and data warehouse architectures. Ability to read and interpret data models, ERDs, and source system schemas.
- Agile & Project Management: Proven track record of authoring high-quality user stories and acceptance criteria in an Agile environment. Experience utilizing Jira for project and work management across multiple teams.
