Job Description:
Snowflake & Cloud Data Warehouse Engineering
Design, build, and maintain enterprise Snowflake data warehouse solutions for analytics and data science.
Implement Snowpipe, Streams, Tasks, Virtual Warehouses, Data Sharing, Cloning, Secure Views, and Time Travel.
Develop real-time and batch ingestion pipelines using Snowpipe, COPY, and cloud storage stages.
Manage Snowflake databases, schemas, tables, and consumption layer views following best practices.
Cloud Integration & Migration:
Lead migrations from legacy platforms (Teradata, Oracle, SAP, RDBMS) to Snowflake on Azure/AWS.
Integrate Snowflake with Azure (Blob, Containers, Cosmos DB, Events, DevOps) and AWS (S3, IAM, EC2, RDS, SQS, SNS, Lambda).
Configure secure cloud stages, RBAC/IAM, and automated ingestion workflows.
Data Transformation & Modeling:
Build scalable DBT models, macros, and tests across staging, ODS, and data marts.
Implement incremental models with focus on performance and cost optimization.
Enable data science/AI use cases including Snowflake Cortex and Feature Store.
Snowflake Administration, Security & Governance:
Design and manage RBAC, functional/custom roles, and least privilege security models.
Implement Security Integrations, Network Policies, SSO (Azure AD), and governance controls.
Manage inbound/outbound data sharing, marketplace datasets, and audit documentation.
Replication, DR & High Availability:
Implement Snowflake database/account replication and Failover Groups.
Lead DR setup, regional migrations, and greenfield platform cutovers.
Performance Optimization & Cost Management:
Monitor performance, long-running queries, and credit usage through resource monitors.
Perform query tuning and recommend optimal warehouse sizing and workload distribution.
CI/CD, DevOps & Operations:
Enhance CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps/Git for Snowflake and DBT deployments.
Support production operations, incident/problem/change management, and release cycles.
Work with scheduling tools like ControlM, Airflow, and TWS.
Leadership & Collaboration:
Serve as Tech Lead, mentor engineers, and enforce development standards.
Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and platform teams.
Participate in agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and status reporting.
Required Skills & Qualification:
- Snowflake: Advanced in architecture, Snowpipe, Sharing, Streams/Tasks, Cloning, Time Travel, Cortex.
- Cloud: Azure & AWS (S3, IAM, EC2, RDS, SQS, SNS, Lambda, Blob, Cosmos DB).
- Transformation: DBT, Matillion.
- Databases: Teradata, Oracle.
- Languages: SQL (expert), SnowSQL, PL/SQL, Python (basic-intermediate), Shell scripting.
- CI/CD & Version Control: Git, Azure DevOps, TFS, ClearCase, SVN, CVS.
- Tools & Platforms: Scheduling: ControlM, Airflow, TWS. Agile/ITSM: Jira, ServiceNow. OS: Linux, Windows.
Certifications:
- SnowPro Certified – Snowflake
