Job Title: Scala Data Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Scala Data Engineer with 12+ years of experience to join our dynamic team. This is a 12-month contract position located in the heart of New York City, NY. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data warehousing, ETL pipeline development, and cloud infrastructure, with a particular focus on Azure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL pipelines using Scala and big data technologies.
  • Build and optimize data warehouses and data lakes on cloud platforms like Snowflake and Redshift.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver scalable data solutions.
  • Implement and manage data processing jobs using Apache Spark.
  • Utilize Kafka for real-time data streaming and processing.
  • Work with Databricks for collaborative data science and engineering.
  • Orchestrate complex data workflows using Airflow.
  • Develop and maintain data models for various business needs.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in production environments.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering and big data.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our data infrastructure and processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of professional experience in data engineering.
  • Proven proficiency in Scala programming language.
  • Extensive experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including Teradata, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
  • Expertise in ETL pipeline development and data warehousing concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data warehousing solutions such as Snowflake and Redshift.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, specifically Azure.
  • Strong experience with big data technologies including Apache Spark, Kafka, Databricks, and Airflow.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
