Role Overview: Application Architect

Qualis1 Inc is seeking a visionary Application Architect for a 6-month contract based in Seattle, WA. This role is pivotal for an organization looking to modernize its digital infrastructure and scale its full-stack capabilities. The Application Architect will be responsible for the end-to-end technical strategy, from front-end user experience to back-end microservices and database integrity. In the 2026 market, the ability to integrate security, scalability, and performance into the initial design is paramount. This position requires a leader who can navigate complex technical landscapes while mentoring a diverse team of developers to deliver high-quality, secure applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, develop, and deploy scalable full-stack applications utilizing React.js, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.
  • Define technical roadmaps and establish coding standards to ensure long-term maintainability and performance.
  • Lead the design of RESTful and GraphQL APIs, ensuring efficient data flow and system interoperability.
  • Implement microservices architectures and manage asynchronous processing using message queues like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Oversee database ownership, including schema design, SQL optimization, and migration management using tools like Prisma or Sequelize.
  • Drive automated testing strategies (unit, integration, E2E) using frameworks such as Jest, Cypress, and Playwright.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards like SOC 2 and ISO 27001, mitigating risks aligned with OWASP Top 10.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to containerize workloads with Docker and manage deployments in AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Technical Requirements

  • 8-10 years of experience in software development and architectural design.
  • Expert-level proficiency in React.js, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.
  • Strong experience with TypeScript/JavaScript (ES6+) and modern front-end state management (Redux/Context).
  • Proven ability to design and implement secure authentication/authorization flows (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Helm) and Kubernetes is a significant plus.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a track record of mentoring junior engineers and leading technical discussions.

Domain and Industry Context

This role specifically seeks candidates with domain experience in high-throughput transactional systems, such as those found in the CBG (Consumer Business Group) or BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) sectors. Seattle’s tech ecosystem in 2026 demands architects who understand the nuances of financial compliance and the performance requirements of global-scale applications. This 6-month engagement offers the chance to influence the architectural foundation of mission-critical systems during a period of rapid digital transformation. The ideal candidate will bring an ownership mindset and a passion for building resilient, user-centric technology solutions.

Special Requirements

Domain experience in CBG or BFSI preferred. 6 months duration. Knowledge of SOC 2 and ISO 27001 required.
