Role Overview
The Azure Cloud Architect is a senior-level strategic role responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of secure, scalable cloud infrastructure and CI/CD platform capabilities. This position is critical for supporting software delivery at an enterprise scale, ensuring that the organization’s cloud footprint is resilient, cost-effective, and aligned with modern platform engineering standards. The ideal candidate will bring over 13 years of professional experience, with a deep focus on Microsoft Azure and automated deployment methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement enterprise-grade CI/CD platforms using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and Jenkins to streamline software delivery lifecycles.
- Develop and maintain reusable Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) templates using Terraform (preferred) or Bicep to ensure consistent environment provisioning.
- Establish pipeline orchestration patterns and integrate governance, security, and observability across all Azure environments.
- Design and manage complex Azure networking architectures, including VNETs, Private Link, App Gateway, and WAF configurations.
- Oversee Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) environments, managing node pools, autoscaling, Ingress controllers (Nginx/AGIC), and container registries (ACR).
- Implement robust security frameworks utilizing Entra ID, RBAC, Azure Policy, Defender for Cloud, and Key Vault for secrets management and rotation.
- Drive observability initiatives using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, App Insights, and open-source tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
- Partner with engineering teams to enable reliable deployments, optimize performance, and ensure high availability of platform services through self-service golden paths.
Technical Requirements
Candidates must possess at least 7 years of experience in cloud infrastructure and architecture, with a minimum of 5 years dedicated specifically to Microsoft Azure. Expertise in GitOps (Flux/Argo), Helm/Kustomize, and service mesh technologies (Istio/Linkerd) is highly desirable. Furthermore, experience with supply chain security (SLSA, SBOMs, OPA) and familiarity with compliance standards such as NIST, SOC2, and ISO 27001 are essential for this enterprise-scale role. The architect will also be expected to handle hybrid connectivity solutions like ExpressRoute and VPN, ensuring seamless integration between on-premises and cloud workloads.
Professional Qualifications
A strong background in software delivery lifecycle (SDLC) and platform engineering patterns is required. Preferred certifications include Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Security Engineer, or DevOps Engineer Expert. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to lead technical discussions, mentor junior engineers, and drive innovation within the cloud infrastructure domain.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $195,000 – $255,000 per year (Estimated)
