Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced DevOps Engineer / Lead to join our dynamic team in Research Triangle Park, NC. This is a long-term contract position requiring a professional who can lead the charge in managing complex cloud infrastructures and driving SRE best practices. As a lead, you will be responsible for the stability, scalability, and performance of our multi-cloud environments, specifically focusing on AWS and GCP. This role is strictly onsite, catering to local candidates who can contribute to our collaborative environment in North Carolina. The successful candidate will be a technical visionary capable of bridging the gap between development and operations while maintaining a 24×7 high-availability environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize AWS and GCP Cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance across all services.
  • Orchestrate Kubernetes resources and troubleshoot complex applications within runtime environments to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Performance tune large-scale databases including Postgres, Redis, Cassandra, and Elasticsearch for optimal throughput.
  • Architect and maintain streaming data pipelines using Kafka, with exposure to Flink, Storm, and Spark frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive runbooks for automated processes and intelligent bots to reduce manual intervention.
  • Collaborate with development and QA teams to automate monitoring, alerting, and scalability of applications.
  • Participate in a 24×7 on-call rotation to ensure the health and resolution of issues in a distributed multi-cloud system.
  • Analyze system failures and provide deep-dive support for microservices debugging across various platforms.
  • Implement and advocate for Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) procedures and best practices across the organization.

Technical Requirements

  • Extensive experience maintaining production-grade systems on AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Proficiency in Linux administration and advanced scripting with Python and Shell for automation tasks.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes cluster maintenance and debugging containerized applications in Go, Java, or Python.
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems components like Zookeeper, Nginx, and AWS S3/GCP GS storage solutions.
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Google Cloud Deployment Manager.
  • Proven track record with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Travis CI, or CircleCI to streamline software delivery.
  • Advanced monitoring and logging skills using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, CloudWatch, and Stackdriver.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $165,000 – $215,000 per year (Estimated)

Location: Research Triangle Park, NC
