Role Overview: Java Developer in Wilmington, DE
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Java Developer for a critical 12-month contract engagement based in the financial and corporate hub of Wilmington, Delaware. This role is designed for a technical professional who thrives in high-performance environments and possesses a deep understanding of modern Java ecosystems, cloud-native architectures, and distributed systems. As a key contributor, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend services that power enterprise-level applications.
Technical Requirements and Core Competencies
- Java & Spring Boot: Expert-level proficiency in Java (version 11 or higher) and the Spring Boot framework. You should have extensive experience building microservices, managing dependency injection, and implementing RESTful APIs with high throughput and low latency.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), specifically focusing on Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) and Elastic Load Balancing (ELB). You must understand container orchestration, scaling strategies, and cloud-native deployment patterns.
- Database Management: Strong SQL skills are mandatory. You will be expected to write complex queries, optimize database performance, and manage data integrity within relational database management systems.
- Edge & Security: Knowledge of Akamai for content delivery and security is highly preferred. Experience with API Gateways, specifically Kong, is considered a significant advantage for this position.
- DevOps Integration: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and monitoring tools to ensure the reliability and stability of production environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot to meet evolving business requirements.
- Deploy and manage containerized applications within AWS EKS, ensuring optimal resource utilization and high availability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, QA engineers, and product managers, to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Perform rigorous code reviews, mentor junior developers, and advocate for best practices in software engineering.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes to enhance system resilience.
Project Context and Environment
This project involves working on high-visibility applications within a fast-paced corporate environment. The successful candidate will be part of a team that values innovation, technical excellence, and collaborative problem-solving. Given the nature of the project, a face-to-face (F2F) interview is a mandatory part of the selection process, requiring candidates to be local to the Wilmington, DE area or willing to travel for the final interview stage. Compensation & Location
Salary: $135,000 – $175,000 per year (Estimated)
