Position Summary: Lead Android Developer
We are looking for a visionary Lead Android Developer to spearhead our mobile engineering efforts in Rocklin, CA. This is a high-impact leadership role requiring a deep technical foundation in the Android ecosystem combined with the ability to mentor teams and drive architectural excellence. With over 12 years of total experience, you will be the primary technical authority for our Android applications, ensuring we leverage the latest technologies like Jetpack Compose, Kotlin Coroutines, and modular architectures to deliver world-class user experiences.
Technical Expertise and Leadership Requirements
- Lead and mentor distributed Android engineering teams within an Agile/Scrum framework, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Architect and develop high-performance Android applications using Kotlin and Java, with a heavy emphasis on Jetpack Compose and modern UI patterns.
- Implement and maintain robust app architectures using dependency injection frameworks such as Hilt or Dagger.
- Drive the adoption of advanced reactive programming patterns using Coroutines and Flow for asynchronous operations.
- Oversee the integration of complex RESTful APIs, GraphQL, or gRPC endpoints to ensure seamless data flow between mobile and backend systems.
- Manage the full mobile SDLC, including CI/CD pipeline optimization, version control strategies using Git/GitHub, and automated testing.
- Ensure application stability and performance through expert use of offline caching, pagination, and efficient memory management.
- Collaborate with product stakeholders to define technical roadmaps and identify potential risks in the development lifecycle.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives with iOS, QA, and backend teams to ensure feature parity and system integrity.
- Stay at the forefront of mobile innovation, exploring technologies like Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) to enhance development efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of publishing high-traffic apps on the Google Play Store, ideally with over 100,000 downloads in the e-commerce or fintech sectors. You should possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline. Beyond technical skills, we value a strong ownership mindset and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Experience with Firebase, Google Play Services, and various payment SDKs is highly desirable. As a lead, you will be expected to drive the release management process and ensure our versioning best practices are followed across all mobile projects. Salary: $180,000 – $240,000 per year
