Role Description:
We are seeking an experienced Mac Engineer with a strong background in Jamf Pro to manage and support Mac devices within a large-scale enterprise environment. This role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in Mac device management, with a proven track record of success in enterprise settings. The ideal candidate will possess proficiency in Mac management tools such as Jamf Pro and Apple Business Manager, coupled with a deep understanding of macOS operating system configurations and security best practices.
- Core Responsibilities:
- Design and implement standard configurations for Mac devices, ensuring alignment with organizational policies and security standards.
- Deploy and manage Mac devices efficiently using Jamf Pro and Apple Business Manager.
- Ensure seamless integration of new Mac devices into the existing IT infrastructure.
- Package, deploy, and update software applications on Mac devices according to organizational requirements.
- Utilize software packaging tools and deployment scripts to streamline application distribution and updates.
- Manage software licenses and ensure compliance with all relevant software agreements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all Mac devices, including hardware, software, and peripheral inventories.
- Track the complete lifecycle of devices, from procurement through to disposal, ensuring proper documentation and compliance at each stage.
- Implement and manage robust security measures to protect Mac devices, including antivirus, encryption (e.g., FileVault), and endpoint protection tools.
- Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans on Mac endpoints to identify and mitigate risks.
- Regularly deploy security patches and critical updates to all Mac devices to maintain a secure posture.
- Monitor patch compliance across the fleet and generate comprehensive reports to ensure all systems are up-to-date and secure.
- Implement and manage encryption solutions, such as FileVault, to ensure data protection and confidentiality.
- Be adaptable and ready to embrace changes in new technology and work with new Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions as they emerge.
- Develop and maintain reliable data backup and recovery procedures specifically for Mac devices.
- Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support for Mac-related hardware and software issues, ensuring timely resolution.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical problems, escalating issues to vendors when necessary for specialized support.
- Create and maintain detailed, comprehensive documentation for Mac configurations, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Conduct training sessions for end-users and IT staff on Mac best practices, security protocols, and new features.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline repetitive Mac device management tasks, enhancing efficiency and accuracy.
- Utilize scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or AppleScript for automation purposes.
- Identify repetitive tasks and develop automated solutions to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Implement and maintain automated workflows for software deployment, configuration management, and device monitoring.
- Collaborate effectively with other IT teams, security teams, and relevant stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of Mac devices into the broader IT ecosystem.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance in cross-functional projects that involve Mac devices.
- Lead or actively participate in projects related to Mac device deployment, upgrades, and migrations.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure successful and timely project completion.
- Stay continuously updated with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in Mac management and enterprise mobility.
- Solicit feedback from end-users and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and enhance the user experience.
- Innovate and implement new solutions to improve the overall Mac user experience and operational efficiency within the organization.
Essential Skills:
- 5 years of experience in managing Mac devices in a large-scale environment.
- Proven experience in managing and supporting Mac devices in an enterprise environment.
- Proficiency with Mac management tools such as Jamf Pro and Apple Business Manager.
- Strong understanding of macOS operating system, configuration, and security.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or AppleScript.
- Familiarity with configuration management databases (CMDB) and IT service management (ITSM) tools.
- Experience with mobile device management (MDM) solutions.
- Knowledge of network protocols and security practices.
- Experience with integration of Mac devices in a mixed OS environment (Windows/Linux).
- Excellent problem-solving, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Certification in Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) or Apple Certified IT Professional (ACITP) is preferred.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $55 – $75 per year
