Job ID: JOB_ID_11190
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated macOS Software Packaging and Automation Engineer to join our team. This role is critical for designing, building, and operationalizing an automated macOS application packaging and distribution capability. You will be instrumental in Phase 1 delivery, focusing immediately on developing recipes for high-volume applications using AutoPkg. Furthermore, you will extend the platform’s capabilities by developing Python-based custom processors to integrate firm security scanning, metadata tagging, and compliance gates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain robust macOS installer packages and distribution-ready artifacts, including .pkg and .dmg formats, ensuring proper code signing and notarization workflows are implemented and followed.
- Author, test, and maintain AutoPkg recipes, leveraging the recipe-driven, processor-based model. This includes chaining processors effectively and utilizing the community processor ecosystem.
- Develop custom AutoPkg processors using Python to meet firm-specific requirements, such as internal security scanning, advanced metadata tagging, and integration of compliance gates.
- Create deterministic and auditable build outputs, ensuring clear versioning, comprehensive change history, and traceability for all packaging inputs and artifacts.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, security, and application owners to validate packaging standards, define essential guardrails, and establish repeatable, efficient release workflows.
- Contribute significantly to documentation, runbooks, and operational readiness initiatives to enable sustainable day-to-day execution and effective knowledge transfer within the team.
- Apply AI-assisted development practices where appropriate to accelerate delivery timelines while rigorously maintaining high standards of quality, security, and auditability.
Required Qualifications:
- Deep, hands-on experience with macOS installer formats, specifically .pkg and .dmg, including proficiency in code signing and notarization workflows.
- A strong understanding of the unique aspects of macOS software distribution compared to Windows, including packaging constraints and deployment considerations.
- Working knowledge of AutoPkg, encompassing the authoring and maintenance of recipes, effective processor chaining, and utilization of the processor-based packaging model.
- Proficiency in Python development, including the ability to build maintainable modules and create integrations that support automation and compliance needs.
- Strong discipline in Git and GitHub workflows, including branching strategies, pull request management, active participation in code reviews, and maintaining auditable artifact histories.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and to operate effectively in a delivery-focused environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in designing and implementing automation pipelines that seamlessly integrate packaging, security scanning, compliance validation, and artifact promotion processes.
- Familiarity with Workspace ONE and Omnissa Intelligence concepts, particularly as they relate to application distribution and telemetry.
- Proficiency in AI or agentic development, especially for enhancing engineering productivity and orchestrating automated workflows.
- Experience with modern web frameworks and API interface design, which could support future phase portal enablement.
Tools and Technologies:
- macOS packaging tools and workflows (code signing, notarization)
- AutoPkg (recipes, processors, community processor ecosystem)
- Python
- Git and GitHub
