Role Overview
The Mobile QA Engineer for the TurboTax Mobile Platform team is a critical role responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of core mobile experiences across iOS and Android. This role partners closely with multiple feature teams shipping new capabilities on the mobile product, validating that platform-level functionality remains stable, scalable, and backward-compatible as new features are introduced. The ideal candidate is highly collaborative, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering high-quality mobile experiences to millions of users.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with multiple mobile feature teams to understand requirements, design changes, and release timelines.
- Validate that new feature development does not break core TurboTax mobile platform functionality.
- Develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test strategies for iOS and Android applications.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing across mobile platforms.
- Own end-to-end quality for platform components, including cross-feature and cross-team impact analysis.
- Identify, document, and track defects with clear reproduction steps and impact analysis.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Design, and Release teams to ensure quality standards are met prior to release.
- Participate in sprint planning, design reviews, and backlog grooming to provide early quality feedback.
- Validate platform stability across different devices, OS versions, locales, and user scenarios.
- Ensure compliance with security, performance, accessibility, and reliability standards.
- Support release readiness activities including smoke testing, release sign-offs, and post-release validation.
- Analyze production issues and partner with engineering teams to prevent regressions.
- Continuously improve QA processes, tools, and best practices across the mobile platform.
Technical Requirements
- Strong experience testing mobile applications on iOS and Android platforms.
- Solid understanding of mobile app architecture, APIs, and client-server interactions.
- Experience with manual and automated testing strategies for mobile applications.
- Hands-on experience with mobile test automation frameworks (e.g., Appium, XCTest, Espresso, or similar).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into build workflows.
- Experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman, REST clients).
- Ability to debug issues using logs, network traces, and device diagnostics.
- Understanding of regression testing strategies for shared platform components.
Quality & Process Skills
- Strong test planning and risk-based testing skills.
- Experience validating cross-team integrations and platform-level changes.
- Ability to balance speed and quality in a fast-paced, continuous delivery environment.
- Knowledge of mobile performance, usability, and accessibility testing best practices.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on large-scale consumer mobile applications.
- Experience supporting platform or shared-services teams.
- Knowledge of mobile analytics, monitoring, and production validation.
- Experience testing financial, regulated, or security-sensitive applications.
- Familiarity with feature flags, A/B testing, and phased rollouts.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $135,000 – $185,000 per year (Estimated)
