Position Summary
Nuebotics is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Network Engineer for a hybrid role based in South San Francisco, CA. This position is critical for the management and optimization of medium to large enterprise networks within a highly regulated environment, such as biotech or pharmaceuticals. The ideal candidate will possess a deep technical understanding of network infrastructure, security protocols, and cloud integration. You will be responsible for ensuring the high availability, security, and performance of our network systems, which are vital to our clients’ research and operational success.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive support for medium to large enterprise networks, acting as a primary Network Engineer or Administrator.
- Manage and optimize Cisco switching environments, including the configuration of VLANs, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), routing, and Quality of Service (QoS).
- Design, tune, and troubleshoot Meraki Wi-Fi solutions to ensure robust and seamless wireless connectivity across campus environments.
- Implement and maintain Palo Alto firewalls, including the development of security policies, NAT, and VPN configurations to protect sensitive data.
- Monitor network health and performance using advanced tools, proactively identifying and resolving complex issues in a timely manner.
- Integrate on-premises network infrastructure with AWS cloud environments, focusing on VPC design, security groups, and Direct Connect implementations.
- Administer virtualization platforms, specifically VMware, to support network-related services and virtual appliances.
- Manage Windows Server networking services and ensure their seamless integration with the broader network architecture.
- Oversee the management of SSL/TLS certificates to ensure secure communications across all platforms.
- Collaborate with security teams to implement zero-trust architectures and advanced network security measures.
- Maintain meticulous documentation of network topologies, configuration changes, and security protocols.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide emergency support for critical network outages.
Technical Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience supporting enterprise-level networks in a Network Engineer or Administrator capacity.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Cisco switching technologies (VLANs, STP, routing, QoS).
- Proven experience in designing and troubleshooting Meraki Wi-Fi infrastructures.
- Proficiency in managing Palo Alto firewalls and implementing complex security policies.
- Solid understanding of core networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
- Experience with network segmentation, trunking, and access control lists (ACLs).
- Working knowledge of virtualization platforms such as VMware and their interaction with physical networks.
- Familiarity with AWS networking components, including VPCs, Subnets, and Direct Connect.
- Experience managing SSL/TLS certificates and secure communication protocols.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a high attention to detail.
Preferred Skills and Certifications
- Cisco certifications such as CCNA or CCNP are highly desirable.
- Experience working within regulated industries such as Biotech, Healthcare, or Pharma is a significant plus.
- Exposure to zero-trust security models and advanced network security architectures.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Special Requirements
Need locals to California only; Face-to-Face (F2F) interview required; Hybrid work model; Experience in regulated environments (biotech/pharma) preferred.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $130,000 – $180,000 per year (Estimated)
