Role Overview and Strategic Impact
The energy landscape is undergoing a massive transformation as we move towards 2026, with a heightened focus on grid modernization, renewable integration, and resilient infrastructure. We are seeking highly skilled Power Systems / SCADA / EMS / Project Engineers to join our team in multiple roles. These positions are critical to the success of our Energy Management System (EMS) and Distribution Management System (DMS) initiatives. As a key member of our engineering group, you will be responsible for supporting the mission-critical applications that keep the lights on for millions of customers. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical network modeling and the sophisticated software suites used by electric utilities and system operators to manage the grid in real-time.
Key Responsibilities and Technical Execution
- Design, develop, and configure advanced EMS, DMS, and SCADA applications tailored to the specific operational needs of large-scale electric utilities.
- Implement and tune Power System Applications (PSA) including Power Flow, State Estimator, Contingency Analysis, and Load Forecasting to ensure grid stability and reliability.
- Manage Automatic Generation Control (AGC) systems and Dispatcher Training Simulators (DTS) to provide operators with the tools and training necessary for complex grid management.
- Perform comprehensive system integration, configuration, and deployment of grid applications, ensuring seamless interoperability between legacy systems and modern digital platforms.
- Provide high-level support for real-time operations, including defect fixing, break/fix activities, and the installation of critical security patches on live production systems.
- Configure and validate communication protocols (such as DNP3, ICCP, and IEC 61850) and data models to ensure accurate grid monitoring and control.
- Lead and participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), as well as commissioning and post-deployment support activities.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams, commissioning specialists, and customer stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within scope.
Qualifications and Professional Requirements
Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 to 10 years of direct experience in the power systems or utility automation industry. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on Power Systems, is highly preferred. You should have a proven track record of working with major EMS/DMS vendors (such as GE, ABB, Siemens, or OSI) and a thorough understanding of the NERC CIP regulatory environment. The ability to travel to customer sites is a requirement for this role, as hands-on commissioning and on-site support are vital components of our project delivery model. We are looking for individuals who are not only technically proficient but also possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure, real-time operational environments. Your expertise will directly contribute to the reliability and efficiency of the modern electrical grid.
