Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Development Engineer with extensive experience in Python and AWS to support the execution of a sophisticated, cloud-native, event-driven platform. This role is critical for implementing scalable serverless workflows, robust cloud infrastructure, and secure data pipelines within the AWS ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of healthcare data standards, specifically HL7v2, and will work closely with our AWS Architects and engineering teams to transition existing architectures into a high-performance production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain high-quality, production-grade software solutions using Python, ensuring code follows best practices for readability and performance.
- Implement and optimize AWS serverless workflows utilizing AWS Lambda and Step Functions to handle complex business logic.
- Architect and build event-driven systems leveraging Amazon S3, EventBridge, and related AWS services for real-time data processing.
- Contribute to the development and management of containerized services running on Amazon ECS and Fargate.
- Design, develop, and maintain secure cloud-based data pipelines to facilitate the movement and transformation of sensitive healthcare data.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects and security engineers, to implement defined system designs and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Troubleshoot complex issues within distributed systems to improve overall system reliability and performance.
- Actively participate in code reviews, mentor junior developers, and drive continuous improvements in CI/CD pipelines.
Technical Requirements
- Minimum of 12+ years of overall experience in software development, with at least 4+ years of professional experience focused on Python and AWS.
- Hands-on expertise in building and deploying solutions on AWS, specifically with Lambda, Step Functions, S3, and IAM.
- Proven experience in designing event-driven or serverless architectures for large-scale applications.
- Strong familiarity with Docker, containerization, and orchestration tools like ECS/Fargate.
- Deep understanding of CI/CD principles and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CDK or Terraform.
- Experience working in secure or regulated data environments, particularly within the healthcare sector.
Healthcare Domain Expertise
- Mandatory experience with healthcare data integration, specifically HL7v2 standards.
- Understanding of message-based integration patterns, including ACK/NACK workflows.
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance requirements and the handling of Protected Health Information (PHI).
Special Requirements
Local candidates only, Day 1 Onsite in San Diego, Healthcare Domain and HL7V2 experience required.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
