Project Overview
The County is seeking a highly experienced Data Migration Automation Test Engineer to lead the verification and quality assurance efforts for a large-scale migration project. This critical initiative involves transitioning from a legacy system to a modern platform, requiring a professional who can ensure data integrity, functional accuracy, and a seamless transition with minimal disruption or downtime. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated testing frameworks across various databases and systems to validate that all data and application behaviors meet defined requirements post-migration. This is a hybrid role based in Seattle, WA, requiring local residency and the ability to attend in-person interviews.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
- Automated Data Migration Validation: Develop and execute scripts to validate that data from multiple legacy databases has been accurately and completely migrated into a consolidated target database without discrepancies.
- Automated Business Scenario Validations: Build and execute automated tests that reflect real-world business rules, workflows, and scenarios to ensure proper application behavior post-migration.
- Data and Reporting Integrity Checks: Verify that reports, analytics outputs, and downstream systems continue to function correctly with the migrated data.
- Performance Validations: Conduct automated performance and load validations to ensure that data operations, including queries and transformations, meet performance standards after migration.
- Defect Analysis: Perform deep-dive analysis into data discrepancies and defects, working closely with ETL and development teams to ensure timely resolution.
- Framework Development: Build reusable and modular test scripts and integrate them with APIs, ETL tools, or existing automation frameworks.
- CI/CD Integration: Utilize CI/CD systems such as Azure DevOps, GitHub, or Jenkins for automated test deployment and reporting.
Required Technical Skills
- 8+ years of intensive experience with SQL and Database management, including writing advanced and complex queries for data reconciliation.
- Strong understanding of relational database systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, Java, or C# for automation purposes.
- Extensive experience with Test Automation Frameworks including Selenium, TestNG, PyTest, or JUnit.
- Hands-on experience with ETL platforms such as SSIS, Informatica, or Azure Dataverse.
- Strong understanding of transformation logic validation and the ability to monitor and troubleshoot data flows in complex environments.
- Experience building data-driven, parameterized test cases for scalable automated regression testing.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $185,000 per year (Estimated)
