About the Role:
We are seeking an expert Senior Data Modeler to deliver a world-class data architecture for an enterprise. This role is crucial in establishing robust data governance and enforcing best practices, policies, and procedures across the entire data landscape, whether on cloud or on-premises environments. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in designing data assets for highly performant Operational Data Stores and near real-time Data Warehouses, with a strong understanding of industry-standard Kimball and Inmon practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop enterprise-level ER (Entity Relationship), Logical, Physical, and Conceptual data models.
- Leverage expertise in data modeling tools such as Erwin, with at least 15 years of hands-on experience.
- Drive the reuse of data and data models across all organizational levels, establishing standards to enforce and preserve a single version of truth throughout the data landscape.
- Facilitate and lead Data Modeling sessions with various stakeholders, including Business, IT (engineers and developers), BI (Business Intelligence), and System of Record (SOR) SMEs, to assess business requirements and deliver design prototypes and models.
- Gain experience in event streaming and event-based data warehousing methodologies.
- Apply modern data design methodologies such as DDD (Domain Driven Design), Microservices Based Architecture, Bounded Contexts, and Data Mesh principles for building agile, scalable, and autonomous data warehouses.
- Conduct data analysis and profiling, with a focus on financial services development, including account, card, payment, or digital processing, for over 10 years.
- Utilize expert SQL development, analysis, design, and performance tuning skills in database technologies like MongoDB and Oracle EXADATA to build highly performant physical data models.
- Demonstrate expert hands-on development and performance tuning experience in Snowflake, including writing pipelines, coding stored procedures, and establishing data shares.
- Design complex dashboards in Power BI, leveraging expertise in PowerPoint.
- Employ expert skills in Excel and Splunk, including writing complex macros to expedite data analysis.
- Perform reverse/forward engineering analysis for complex data flows and develop source-to-target and process mappings.
- Utilize strong Python scripting skills to create alerts and monitoring, build ingestion pipelines, and automate data governance processes.
- Build and maintain an evergreen Data Catalogue for the enterprise, ensuring robust metadata and end-to-end lineage. Experience with tools like Alation or Collibra is a plus.
- Gain experience with data pipeline tools such as Matillion, SnapLogic, or DBT for on-cloud/on-premises databases like Snowflake.
- Familiarity with industry reference frameworks such as BIAN (Banking Industry Architecture Network), IBM Banking & Financial Markets Model, or ISO20022 is a plus.
Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly complex, and matrixed environment, capable of handling multiple tasks concurrently.
- Ability to understand the current data landscape, interpret analysis results, identify trends and issues, and develop data standards to support business objectives.
- Capacity for independent judgment and creative problem-solving for data solutions in a large and complex environment.
- Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to work with partners to meet business SLAs and deliver work to expectations.
- Functional knowledge of the Financial Services industry, with experience promoting a robust risk & control environment, is preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in designing data assets, with a strong preference for financial industry data modeling experience.
Special Requirements
Onsite from Day 1. Financial Domain experience highly preferred. Experience with Alation, Collibra, Matillion, SnapLogic, DBT, BIAN, IBM Banking & Financial Markets Model, ISO20022 is a plus.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $70 – $90 per year (Estimated)
