Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior z/OS Data Communications System Programmer for a long-term contract role. This position is 100% remote and requires extensive experience in planning, designing, configuring, implementing, and managing z/OS data communications systems and related ISV tools. The successful candidate will ensure system stability, performance, and compliance, while collaborating with various teams to resolve issues and deliver scalable technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform problem determination, analysis, and resolution for z/OS communication systems.
- Capture, analyze, and transmit system dumps; collaborate with vendor support when needed.
- Partner with internal teams and stakeholders to validate technical requirements and support projects.
- Support production rollouts and ensure system stability.
- Work with capacity and performance teams to proactively prevent service issues.
- Collaborate with operations teams to resolve incidents quickly and efficiently.
- Participate in and support Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises.
- Provide on-call support as required.
- Ensure availability, performance, and reliability SLAs are consistently met.
- Contribute to technical direction, strategy, and software evaluation.
- Provide training and knowledge sharing to team members and stakeholders.
- Offer informal project leadership for complex initiatives.
Must-Have Skills (Critical Requirements):
- Strong expertise in z/OS communication protocols.
- Hands-on experience with communication monitoring tools.
- Solid understanding of security interfaces and encryption methodologies.
- In-depth knowledge of transmission methods and file transfer software.
- Experience in problem determination, system dumps, and production support.
- Ability to work with vendors and cross-functional technical teams.
