Position Summary

We are looking for a Senior Snowflake Developer with an ELT-oriented mindset to join our data engineering team. This is a 100% remote position focusing on the design, construction, and maintenance of sophisticated cloud data pipelines. The ideal candidate will have a deep mastery of Matillion and Snowflake, taking full ownership of data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration. You will work at the intersection of product, analytics, and platform teams to deliver high-value data products that drive business intelligence and strategic decision-making.

Core Technical Responsibilities

  • ELT Pipeline Development: Design and build end-to-end ELT pipelines that extract data from diverse sources including APIs, RDBMS, and third-party flat files, loading them into Snowflake data lakes.
  • Matillion Orchestration: Utilize Matillion as the primary orchestration tool to operationalize complex data workflows, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Data Modeling: Create and maintain robust schemas and data models across staging, curated, and data mart layers. You will be responsible for source-to-target mapping and maintaining data lineage.
  • CDC Implementation: Implement Change Data Capture (CDC) strategies using Snowflake features and Matillion patterns to minimize data latency and optimize processing costs.
  • Performance Tuning: Optimize SQL queries, warehouse sizing, and job parallelism to meet strict SLAs while maintaining predictable cloud spend.
  • Governance and Quality: Embed validation rules and exception handling into all pipelines to ensure data integrity and compliance with RBAC and masking policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: At least 10 years of total IT experience, with a minimum of 7 years dedicated to data engineering.
  • Tooling: 2+ years of hands-on experience with Snowflake (tasks, streams, performance tuning) and at least 1 year of intensive Matillion experience.
  • SQL Mastery: Advanced SQL skills, including the development of stored procedures, triggers, and complex analytical functions.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Proficiency with AWS components such as Lambda and S3 within the context of data pipelines.
  • BI Integration: Experience building or supporting self-service reporting solutions using tools like Power BI, Looker, or Tableau.

Professional Expectations

As a senior member of the team, you are expected to maintain comprehensive documentation, including runbooks and SOPs. You will participate in on-call rotations for pipeline monitoring and provide root-cause analysis for any production incidents. Strong communication skills are vital, as you will regularly present progress and risks to both technical and business stakeholders. This role requires a proactive problem-solver who can thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented remote environment.

Special Requirements

Only USC & GC candidates. 100% Remote. Matillion experience is MANDATORY; candidates without it will be rejected.
