Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Developer with specialized expertise in Golang for a critical 12-month project with our premier financial services client, Capital One, located in McLean, VA. This position is specifically reserved for candidates who have previously worked within the Capital One ecosystem, ensuring a seamless transition into their unique technical environment and corporate culture. The successful candidate will be responsible for architecting and implementing high-performance backend services that power modern financial applications.
Technical Requirements
- Expert-level proficiency in Java development, with a focus on building scalable microservices.
- Strong hands-on experience with Golang for developing high-concurrency, low-latency systems.
- Proficiency in Scala for functional programming and data processing tasks.
- Extensive experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs within a distributed architecture.
- Deep knowledge of AWS cloud infrastructure, specifically Lambda, ECS, and DynamoDB.
- Experience implementing Microservices and Event-driven systems to ensure system resilience and scalability.
- Familiarity with Open Telemetry for comprehensive system observability and performance monitoring.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will lead the development of complex backend features, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust software solutions. You will be expected to write clean, maintainable code while adhering to the rigorous security and compliance standards of the financial industry. Your expertise in AWS will be leveraged to optimize cloud-native deployments, while your experience with event-driven architectures will help in building responsive, real-time data processing pipelines. Additionally, you will play a key role in troubleshooting production issues and mentoring junior developers on best practices in Java and Golang development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional software development experience.
- Mandatory previous experience working at Capital One.
- Proven track record of delivering cloud-native applications on AWS.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in an Agile/DevOps environment.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $175,000 – $225,000 per year (Estimated)
