Role Overview: Sr. MuleSoft Integration Developer with Workato
HAN IT Staffing is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior MuleSoft Integration Developer with specialized expertise in Workato. This is a critical contract role designed for a technical leader who can bridge the gap between complex enterprise systems and modern cloud-based automation. As organizations increasingly move toward a “composable enterprise” model, the ability to design, build, and manage robust integration layers is paramount. This position offers the flexibility of remote work or a hybrid arrangement based out of Edison, NJ, or Chicago, IL, catering to the needs of top-tier talent in the current market. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full lifecycle of integration development, from initial architectural design to deployment and ongoing maintenance.
Key Responsibilities and Technical Leadership
- Architect and develop end-to-end integration solutions using the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform (Mule 4) and Workato.
- Design and implement high-performance APIs following the API-led connectivity approach, ensuring clear separation between System, Process, and Experience layers.
- Create sophisticated Workato “recipes” and custom connectors to automate business processes across diverse SaaS platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts and product owners, to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical architectures.
- Lead the development of reusable integration components and frameworks to accelerate delivery and ensure consistency across the enterprise.
- Implement advanced error handling, logging, and monitoring strategies using tools like Anypoint Monitoring, ELK stack, or Splunk.
- Ensure all integration solutions adhere to strict security, compliance, and governance standards, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, and encryption protocols.
- Perform rigorous code reviews and mentor junior developers on best practices in DataWeave, RAML, and integration patterns.
- Optimize integration performance by identifying bottlenecks and implementing caching or asynchronous processing where appropriate.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including sequence diagrams, API specifications, and deployment guides.
Required Technical Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 4 years of dedicated experience in enterprise integration development. A deep understanding of the MuleSoft ecosystem is required, specifically with Mule 4, Anypoint Studio, and API Manager. Furthermore, hands-on experience with Workato is essential, as this role involves leveraging both platforms to create a seamless integration fabric. Candidates should be proficient in integrating major SaaS applications such as Salesforce, NetSuite, SAP, Workday, and ServiceNow. Technical proficiency in RESTful APIs, JSON, XML, and various web services is a baseline requirement. Experience with authentication methods like OAuth 2.0 and API keys is mandatory to ensure secure data exchange across cloud and on-premise environments. Strong problem-solving and debugging skills are necessary to handle the complexities of distributed systems.
